Record-Breaking Deliveries for the Holidays!

Two out of the three main companies that deliver packages had their best performance in delivering packages on time during the days after Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday, according to information from a company called ShipMatrix Inc.

The data shows that UPS delivered 98% of packages on time, and FedEx delivered 97.8% on time. This is better than the same time last year when UPS delivered 96.6% on time, and FedEx delivered 95.3% on time. It’s been a while since UPS and FedEx did so well during this busy time before the holidays.

The U.S. Postal Service delivered 95.2% of packages on time during this year’s busy time, which is a bit lower than last year when it was 95.8%. Unfortunately, there’s no data available for Amazon.

UPS and FedEx are expected to continue doing a good job delivering packages during the holidays. This is because there aren’t as many packages to deliver compared to last year. ShipMatrix estimates that, on average, 82 million packages will be delivered each day during the busiest time. Last year, it was over 90 million. Also, there’s enough space to deliver 120 million packages, so there shouldn’t be a problem with not having enough room for all the packages.

UPS and FedEx are making it easier by taking an extra day to deliver packages. For example, if you send a package from New York to Chicago using UPS, which used to take two days, it now takes three days. And if you send a package from Los Angeles to New Jersey using FedEx, which used to take four days, it now takes five days.

One thing not mentioned in the data is that more people are placing holiday orders as early as October because stores started their promotions earlier than usual.
