Buckle up for CVSA’s 2024 Brake Safety Week

Mark your calendars! The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) is launching its annual Brake Safety Week from Sunday, August 25, to Saturday, August 31. This important event, which has been a cornerstone of commercial vehicle safety for years, focuses on ensuring that brake systems and components are in top condition.

During this week, CVSA-certified inspectors will conduct routine inspections of commercial motor vehicles, paying special attention to brake linings and pads. Vehicles with brake-related violations will be removed from the road until the issues are resolved, impacting motor carriers’ safety ratings.

This year, some jurisdictions will also use performance-based brake testers (PBBTs) to assess vehicle braking performance. Make sure your fleet is prepared!

Brake Safety Week is part of a long-standing initiative by the CVSA to enforce brake safety regulations, raise awareness, and collect critical data on brake-related violations. It’s an essential effort to keep our roads safe.

Stay ahead and ensure your brakes are compliant—safety starts with you!
